Black and White Kitchens

This is what is on my mind. Black and White. Shocker.

I L*O*V*E these kitchens. When we first built the home we are in now, the entire kitchen was white. We painted all the cabinets black a few years ago. It is not as dark as you might think because all my upper cabinets are glass pained with white bead board inside. But now, I am thinking black with white on top.

The Mr. says in the nicest way possible, no. I get it. It’s a pain and the house S*T*I*N*K*S when the paint process is happening. We actually left the house when we painted the cabinets black.

But these are beauties. Maybe the next home.

  1. We had painted our cabinets a mutted green because the wood was in bad shape. Now that the cabinets have been redone they are natural wood again. I love the dark gray pic above. Very neutral with a clean line look. Thanks for the idea Amy!!

  2. Yes! They were ugly stained wood circa 1973 so Greg put faux panels on them using screen door trim then painted them cream with a coffee glaze and changed out the hardware. Last year he redid them dark gray with a black glaze and switched out the hardware for brushed nickel this time. We love painted wood and want more around the house.

    • Your kitchen is so beautiful and Greg did a fantastic job. Did you have to stay out of the house when he did it? I am considering painting them again white on top and light grey on bottom or keep them black on bottom….
